Hey everyone! Two Consider the Source shows in one night? YES!

SATURDAY, JULY 24TH we’re headlining the Astoria Music Now festival in Astoria Park at 7pm

and then @ 11pm we’ll be rocking the festival after party at Bar East on the upper east side. Festival is free and all ages, After Party $7 and 21+.

Consider the Skydive!

Today I went skydiving and then spent the rest of the night looking at an Escher painting. The skydiving was perhaps the most fantastic physical thing I’ve ever done. When you step up to the edge of the plane door. You look down only for a brief second and then role off toward the center of the earth. At first you can’t believe it’s happening. This isn’t natural for a human to witness! You freak out but there’s nothing you can do because all the normal things that you usually do to protect yourself from things that pose a threat to you physically, don’t apply. Part of your mind tells your body you are in danger but you can’t dodge anything, because there’s nothing to dodge. You can’t hold on for leverage because there is nothing to hold onto. During free fall the wind rushes into your face and completely dries you out. You become parched and once again your bodies alarm goes off and tells you your going to suffocate! But your mind finally realizes that you’re ok. You have a parachute, strapped to a surly Russian guy who despite his slightly condescending demeanor, won’t let you die even if it is only because it is not in his best interest. And besides people do this every single day. Then you just enjoy it. You look around and you see the entire landscape on all sides of you. You are doing something that at first you think “people shouldn’t be able to do this with out dying” but what does that even mean anymore? Afterwards I found myself thinking “we shouldn’t be able to drive cars but we do, we shouldn’t be able to ride commercial planes but we do. Trains, space shuttles, drink pepsi but we do!” We can do anything! Our species can imagine and accomplish anything and not only that, get used to the thing we create and get bored of it and then do something brand new and “crazier.”

Anyway after this I came home, primed with a new thirst for… I don’t really know, life I guess, and for some reason I had this impulse to look up the artist M.C. Escher. He was a visual prankster. He played tricks with our notion of flow. I was looking at them and getting excited at every time a new way to look at the piece popped out at me. His pieces literally become something else the more you look at it. And when you see one part change all of a sudden the rest of the piece shifts with it and flows in a totally different way. It reminded me a bit of when I was a kid and some older kid would play a card trick, or find a penny behind my ear. I would be so astounded! Aside from when I play music I haven’t had that feeling from anything else in so long!

I’ve been a complete recluse for the past 9 months or so and during that time, while I learned a lot, I feel like I lost something. I couldn’t pinpoint it for the longest time but today I think I realized part of what it was. There is an infinite amount of things in this world to appreciate. From your family and friends, to the fact that you can be here on the internet and learn anything you want, to Iced coffee, to video games, to music and the arts and, actually, every single other thing in the world! Why are we so bored and discouraged as a nation? Why can’t we invest even a little bit of time into something that we know deep down would make us better, more enlightened people? Why was I so bummed out?

I’m getting side tracked as I often do but I don’t know, I think after today I’m gonna start appreciating the so called little things, which I think in actuality are the biggest and perhaps the only things in life to appreciate.

Exciting news!!!… we’ve been invited to open up for one of our greatest musical hero’s and one of the greatest innovators in the history of the electric bass… Victor Wooten.
The show is June 23rd at Highline Ballroom in NYC. Its just us and him. Goosebumps all over See you there!

So so so excited about these, the first three are this month including Heady Fest, Phan Phare and Strange Creek. CTS plays with Astronauts!

Thats right folks, this past Saturday we took part in a special celebration of humanities explorations of space. The event titled Yuris Night was held on NYC’s lower east side at club Drom. Buzz Aldrin was in attendance!!!!! as in the second human being to set foot on the moon. It was a most excellent event and an honor for us to contribute our music and vision! The party was “approved by NASA” and we hope to continue our collaborations with NASA in the future cheers!
